It examines the links between sexuality, rights, gender, and health and their interface with socio-cultural and legal issues. Participants critically analyze policy, research and program interventions using a rights-based approach. <\/P> <P><STRONG>Course Content <\/STRONG><\/P> <P>Sexuality is a complex field of study that spans multiple disciplines and areas of work. Accordingly, the course content of the Sexuality, Gender and Rights Institute will focus on a conceptual and theoretical study of sexuality drawing from different social science disciplines and the intersections between them. Activists and academics will teach the course using classroom instruction, group work, case studies, simulation exercises, fiction and films. <\/P> <UL> <LI>Sexuality theory <\/LI> <LI>Sexuality and human rights <\/LI> <LI>Sexuality and gender <\/LI> <LI>Sexuality and legal systems <\/LI> <LI>Sexual and reproductive health and rights <\/LI> <LI>Representation of sexuality <\/LI> <LI>Sexual diversities and rights <\/LI> <LI>Sexuality and disability <\/LI> <LI>Sexual rights advocacy <\/LI> <LI>Case studies of program interventions <\/LI><\/UL> <P><STRONG>Organizer <\/STRONG><\/P> <P>CREA is an international, feminist, human rights organization based in New Delhi. CREA promotes and advances women&rsquo;s human rights and sexual rights of all people by strengthening feminist leadership, organizations and movements; influencing global and national advocacy; creating information, knowledge and scholarship; changing public attitudes and practices; and addressing social exclusion. <\/P> <P><STRONG>Participants <\/STRONG><\/P> <P>25-30 participants will be selected based on their application forms and their ability to demonstrate how they would apply the lessons of the Institute. Individuals working on issues of sexuality, LGBT rights, sexual rights, HIV\/AIDS, violence against women, health or gender are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to participants working in the global south at the national\/local levels to advance sexual rights. Participants are required to stay for the duration of the course. <\/P> <P><STRONG>Venue and Dates <\/STRONG><\/P> <P>The Sexuality, Gender and Rights Institute will be held in Istanbul, Turkey during June 18-26, 2011.
