CLAM is participating in person in \u201cUERJ without Walls\u201d<\/a> in the \u201cPoster\u201d format, with three presentations: the activities of CLAM\u2019s communications team; the editorial work of Sexualidad, Salud y Sociedad \u2013 Revista Latinoamericana; the results of the research \u201cMobile Feminisms: Digital Networks, Violence and Politics \u2013 Anti-Rights Discourses on Social Media Platforms in Brazil\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From March 24 to 28, \u201cUERJ without Walls\u201d <\/a>will take place, an extension exhibition by UERJ, with the theme \u201cDemocracy, Sustainability and Social Justice; the Challenges of the 2030 Agenda\u201d. The event, which takes place annually and is now in its 33rd edition, mobilizes the university to present to the internal and external community, teaching, research and extension projects developed by all units of the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this edition, the CLAM communication project, coordinated by professors Claudia Mora<\/a>, Laura Lowenkron<\/a>, and Horacio S\u00edvori<\/a>, with assistance from researcher Maria Clara Gama,<\/a> will present its scientific dissemination activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2002, with support from the Ford Foundation, CLAM is linked to the H\u00e9sio Cordeiro Institute of Social Medicine and its mission is to foster debates on gender, sexuality, health, and human rights, aiming to reduce gender, ethnic-racial inequalities, and discrimination against sexual minorities. The Center has fostered national and international debates, both in civil society and in the institutional public sphere, through the production and dissemination of information and research results on topics related to its area of activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some methodologies used by the Center to evaluate its performance will also be presented, such as annual activity reports, success indicators, such as the number of website accesses, engagement on social networks, and periodic meetings for planning and evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The communications project will present some results of its activities, such as the development of a new website<\/a>, which has versions in Portuguese, Spanish and English. The website, which works in harmony with the Center’s social networks<\/a>, had more than eleven thousand visits in 2024. Regarding social networks, the Center’s Facebook has 6.2 thousand followers and Instagram, more than 2 thousand. Another result that will be presented by the communications team concerns the holding of the \u201cInternational Seminar on Sexuality and Human Rights: a memory of the formation of a field of studies in Brazil and Latin America (2002-2022)\u201d<\/a>, in June 2024, which was a success with the public. Holding this international seminar together with the use of digital technologies has strengthened the Center’s relations with international partners and its audience. The aim is to strengthen these ties, expand the target audience and disseminate qualified information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project linked to Sexualidad, Salud y Sociedad \u2013 Revista Latinoamericana<\/a>, coordinated by Professor Marina Nucci<\/a>, will present the activities of the journal, which continuously publishes unpublished articles in the areas of Social Sciences and Psychology, related to studies of gender, sexuality, health and human rights. The articles are published in Portuguese, Spanish and English and the editorial board of the journal is composed of members of various nationalities. The journal has international reach, is a reference in the area of gender and sexuality in Latin America and offers extension scholarships and other modalities for students to work in the management and visibility of the journal on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project \u201cMobile feminisms: digital networks, violence and politics \u2013 anti-rights discourses on social media platforms in Brazil\u201d, coordinated by Professor Horacio S\u00edvori, investigates the roles of information and communication technologies, especially online social media platforms, in the production and dissemination of anti-rights discourses, as well as the possibilities of producing collective responses to them. The project involves undergraduate and master’s students, who collaborate on the research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the previous edition of UERJ sem Muros, CLAM participated asynchronously, through the production of two videos prepared by the Center’s scholarship holders. In the videos, the extension interns inform the community about the Center’s work and reflect on its impact and role in student education. The first video described the activities of CLAM’s communication project, which had recently launched its new website.
