On April 8, Professor Horacio S\u00edvori (CLAM\/IMS\/UERJ) and researcher Lorena Mochel will discuss the progress of their research \u201cBrazilian feminist responses to hate speech: online violence through an intersectional lens,\u201d at 2:00 PM, in room 7001, on the seventh floor of the Institute of Social Medicine, at UERJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CLAM Seminars, promoted by the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM\/IMS\/UERJ), bring together researchers, students, and professionals interested in gender, sexuality, and human rights to create a space for learning and exchange of information through academic work that reflects the Center\u2019s areas of activity. Meetings are held in person and no prior registration is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brazilian feminist responses to hate speech: online violence through an intersectional lens<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Networked responses to acts of anti-feminist and anti-LGBTI+ discursive violence on Brazilian social media platforms reveal the articulation between definitions of gender-based violence and contemporary formulations of the category \u201cpolitical violence.\u201d In this context, racialized and embodied feminist and LGBTI+ communities employ the construct of intersectionality as a key to understanding what is called \u201cgender-based political violence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
