On Tuesday, July 1st, researcher Ueslei Solaterrar (CLAM\/IMS\/UERJ) will present the open lecture \u201cRace, gender, and sexuality at the crossroads of care management in Mental Health in Brazil,\u201d at 2:00 PM, in the auditorium of the Institute of Social Medicine at UERJ (6th floor, Block E, Room 6012).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CLAM Seminars, organized by the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM\/IMS\/UERJ), aim to bring together students, researchers, and others interested in the fields of gender, sexuality, and human rights. These meetings offer a space for learning and knowledge exchange, based on academic research related to the activities developed by the Center. Sessions are held in person and are open to the public, with no need for prior registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Care in Brazil as a public policy is the result of the collective process of the Anti-Asylum Struggle that drives the so-called Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. Despite important advances achieved through the convergence of users, family members, workers, researchers, and social movements, this field is still hegemonically traversed by theoretical-epistemological and technical-methodological frameworks rooted in the modern-colonial matrix. What is the race, class, and territory of the majority of public mental health service users in the country? What is the gender of those who have been on the front lines of care within our Psychosocial Care Network? Finally, have the tools and technologies used daily in this field been sensitive to such specificities? For all these reasons, this session aims to reflect on the intersections between race, gender, sexuality, class, and territory in the management and (un)making of mental health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
