Serra has a Master\u2019s degree and is a PhD student in Collective Health (Human Sciences Applied to Health) at the Institute of Social Medicine Hesio Cordeiro of UERJ, with research in gender and religion funded by a CNPq grant. Serra also served as collaborator of the Psychology and Laicity Axis of the Regional Commission on Human Rights of CRP-RJ from 2015-2019, and of the Laicity Axis and Psychology of CRP-RJ in the 2020-2022 administration. Serra has been an activist of the Brazilian Catholic LGBTQI+ movement since 2008, and was part of the 2018-2021 coordination team of the National Network of LGBT Catholic Groups.
