Por primera vez Brasil decret\u00f3 el licenciamiento compulsivo de un medicamento. El presidente Luis In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva firm\u00f3 el viernes 4 de mayo en Brasilia, un decreto que oficializa el licenciamiento compulsivo del anti-retroviral Efavirenz. El laboratorio Merck tuvo un plazo de siete d\u00edas para pronunciarse despu\u00e9s de la declaraci\u00f3n de inter\u00e9s p\u00fablico realizada por el Ministro de la Salud, Jos\u00e9 Gomes Tempor\u00e3o, a trav\u00e9s de la porter\u00eda 886, del 24 de abril. En ese per\u00edodo el laboratorio ofreci\u00f3 un descuento del 30% sobre el precio de US$ 1,59 por comprimido, valor que paga actualmente el Gobierno Federal. Esta propuestas fue considerada insatisfactoria ya que Brasil puede conseguir el producto por US$ 0,45. <\/P>
