En la larga lista de actividades de alto riesgo sobresale la defensa de derechos humanos. Uno de los casos emblemáticos que alertó al mundo sobre las constantes amenazas que sufren quienes dedican sus días a esta tarea, ocurrió en 2009. Ese año, la activista rusa Natalia Estemirova había estado investigando crímenes de lesa humanidad en Chechenia. En julio, desconocidos llegaron hasta su casa y se la llevaron en un vehiculo. Horas después la encontraron sin vida en los alrededores.<\/p>\n

Con el fin de buscar estrategias para evitar que casos como este vuelvan a repetirse, y de disuadir los planes de secuestros a los defensores de derechos humanos, la ONG Civil Rights Defenders acaba de desarrollar un brazalete que se activa gracias a sistemas de navegación satelital que permiten avisar cuado su portador está en peligro. El mensaje, que contiene los datos de la pesona y su ubicación, es enviado a Facebook, a Twitter y a los colegas ubicados en zonas aledañas.<\/p>\n
