Editorial novelty: CLAM launches Monthly Newsletter

The Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM/IMS/UERJ) has just launched its Monthly Newsletter. The publication, which will be released once a month, will feature information on academic events such as seminars, thesis and dissertation defenses, book launches, and other recent publications by professors, students, and researchers associated with the Center. It will also occasionally include information on opportunities for scholarships and internships.

I Seminário Latino-Americano sobre Cuidados no Brasil


Date: September 9 and 10

The event will bring together female researchers, activists, community leaders, and political representatives to strengthen the Latin American debate on care, acknowledging the cultural diversity of these practices.

Key topics:

*Care as a social right and the popular Latin American political agenda;

*Perspectives on care in Latin America;

*Care in Brazil, linking gender, race, sexualities, disabilities, territory, and age;

*Continuing education in the field of care;

*Care in psychosocial attention;

*Care in favela territories;

*Care in the SUS and SUAS systems;

*Maternal student retention policies.

Seminário Crise climática e racismo ambiental: como cuidar das vidas negras?


Promoted by the Institute for Research on Black Cultures (IPCN), the seminar is part of a cycle of intergenerational events that aims to connect the traditions of the Black movement’s struggle with the political, environmental, and health challenges of the present.

Seminário Internacional sobre Maternidades, Violências e Direitos


Between September 24, 25, and 26, 2025, the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) in Niterói will host the seminar.

The event, organized by the Transnational Network of Research on Destitute, Violated, and Abused Motherhoods (REMA), with support from CNPq and FAPERJ, will bring together managers from the health, law, and social assistance systems, female researchers, women from social movements, and third-sector representatives. They will dialogue on how motherhoods, violence, and rights are interconnected in different contexts and regions of Brazil and other countries.

Location: Fluminense Federal University (UFF), Gragoatá Campus. The activities will take place in classrooms at the Institute of Human Sciences and Philosophy (ICHF) and in the Auditorium of Block P (ICHF).

10ª Reunião de Antropologia da Ciência e da Tecnologia: 06 a 10 de outubro

Reflections and mobilizations around the transformations felt in recent editions, with explorations of ethnographies related to the studies of science and technology, considering the tensions between scientific and “native” (non-scientific and non-academic) knowledge.

XIV Seminário de Pesquisa do IMS:


Date: November 3 to 6, 2025

The seminar is inspired by the political and poetic power of Matheusa Passareli, as well as the tensions that cross the institutional and epistemological boundaries of the field of Collective Health.

The program will feature round tables, workshops, conversation circles, paper presentations, and interdisciplinary activities. The event is promoted by the Student Collective of the Hésio Cordeiro Institute of Social Medicine (IMS/UERJ).

Deadline for submission of paper abstracts: September 12 (at 11 p.m.).

Submissions and registrations are done through the event’s official website.

Accepted Work Modalities:

● Research report;

● Experience report;

● Artistic experience;

● Essay.

● Bodies in alliances: Intersectionalities, dissidences, and decolonial practices in health;
