Romário Nelvo
Ph.D. Researcher at the Institute of Social Medicine, State University of Rio de Janeiro (IMS/UERJ). Holds a PhD in Social Anthropology from the National Museum, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPGAS/MN/UFRJ). He is affiliated as an associate researcher at the Université de Montréal, the Contemporary Family Studies Group (GREFAC/UERJ), and the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM/IMS/UERJ). He is editor of the journal Sexualidad, Salud y Sociedad. His research focuses on the anthropology of health, the body, emotions, the state, and public policies, with particular attention to the following themes: HIV/AIDS, drug policies, activism, intersectionalities, and moralities. His master’s dissertation was awarded in the ANPOCS Prize for Literary Works, Theses, and Dissertations in 2021, and his doctoral thesis was recognized among the three best defended in 2024 by the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology at UFRJ.
