This book provides an overview of the current state of sexual and reproductive rights in Colombia in light of the legal norms and public policies that regulate the sexuality and reproduction of the Colombian population. It uses the enactment of the country’s current Political Constitution (1991) as a chronological framework, which brought about a significant normative shift in the understanding of citizenship, rights, and the ways of acting and influencing public affairs in Colombia.

Based on a review of rulings by the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Justice, and the Council of State; laws, codes, and decrees; and policies on sexual and reproductive health and sexual and reproductive rights, the authors examine the regulation of reproduction and sexual life, involuntary pregnancy termination, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
