Since the final decades of the 20th century, the subjects of collective action have multiplied. The social movement organized around sexual diversity—more specifically gays, lesbians, travestis, transsexuals, and bisexuals (GLTTB)—has achieved an unprecedented level of visibility and mobilization. One such form of action is the pride march, held annually in different parts of the world. In several Latin American cities, such as Rio de Janeiro (2003 and 2004), Porto Alegre, and São Paulo (2004), the characteristics of the audiences participating in these marches have begun to be studied systematically. In Buenos Aires, our research team carried out a first survey in 2004.
