The conjugal and parental relationships of gays, lesbians, and travestis have been a topic of discussion in recent years in several countries around the world. Plural in their diversity, these new arrangements and their meanings broaden the debates about fatherhood and motherhood, couples, family, and love, traditionally centered on the heterocentric norm. In Brazil, this debate has grown and become consolidated both in academia and in civil society and the governmental sphere, also reaching the pages of newspapers and magazines across the country. The strong contemporary interest in the subject can be seen in the widespread engagement with the network “Civil Partnership, Conjugality, and Homoparenthood,” created by social psychologist Anna Paula Uziel (UERJ), anthropologist Miriam Grossi (UFSC), and sociologist Luiz Mello (UFG), which gave rise to the collection Conjugalities, Parentalities, and Lesbian, Gay, and Travesti Identities (CLAM/Garamond Publishing).

The articles in the collection present approaches from a wide range of disciplines, particularly Anthropology, Law, Psychology, and Sociology. The book is divided into three main thematic axes: conjugality, parenthood, and identities.
