This publication is the result of work developed by the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM) at the Institute of Social Medicine/UERJ. CLAM’s main objective is to produce, organize, and disseminate knowledge about sexuality from a human rights perspective, contributing to reducing gender inequalities and strengthening the fight against discrimination of sexual minorities in Latin America.During 2003 and 2004, the Center coordinated the production of a series of assessments and mappings. Sexuality and Sexual Behavior in Brazil: Data and Research is the fourth document produced and released to a wider audience. It presents a mapping of Brazilian research on sexual and gender violence, sexual and reproductive health, and STDs/AIDS, identifying and analyzing certain methodological trends and existing gaps in these three fields.
