Rights and Policies: Portraits of LGBT Policy in the State of Rio de Janeiro, by Sérgio Carrara, Silvia Aguião, Paulo Víctor Leite Lopes, and Martinho Tota, is the result of the joint work of the Integrated Laboratory on Sexual and Gender Diversity, Policies and Rights (LIDIS) and the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM), both based at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ).

Based on the results of a series of coordinated investigations, the research team develops a comprehensive analysis of the patterns of violence and discrimination affecting the LGBT population in the state, in addition to monitoring the implementation of the “Rio without Homophobia Program,” an innovative initiative within the scope of state public policies that aims to protect this population and promote its citizenship.
