ANTÔNIO CERDEIRO PILÃO
Antonio Cerdeira Pilão is a Marie Curie Researcher (MSCA–UKRI Guarantee) at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and a member of the Contemporary Intimacies, Sexualities and Genders (CISG) research group at the same institution. He is currently developing at MMU the project Families and Parenthood on the Margins of the State: Consensual Non-Monogamies and Multiparenthood in the United Kingdom and Brazil (FAKIM-CNM), in partnership with CLAM/IMS-UERJ. He holds a PhD in Human Sciences (Cultural Anthropology) and a Master’s degree in Sociology (with a concentration in Anthropology) from the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology (PPGSA) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with a visiting doctoral period at Universidad Rovira i Virgili (Spain). He is the coordinator of the research group “Politics, Affections and Non-Monogamous Sexualities” (CNPq Directory) and a member of the International Commission on Global Feminisms and Queer Politics of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES). He conducted postdoctoral research funded by FAPESP at the Graduate Program in Public Health at the University of São Paulo (USP), with the research group “Reproductive Health, Gender and Society”, and by CNPq at the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology at USP, affiliated with the Center for the Study of Social Markers of Difference (NUMAS-USP) and the Anthropology of Law Center (NADIR-USP). He also completed postdoctoral research at the Graduate Program in Social Sciences at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (PPGCSO-UFJF), joining the research group “Family, Emotions, Gender and Sexuality” (FEGS-UFJF). In addition, he has been a visiting researcher at the Institute on Inequalities in Global Health at the University of Southern California (USC). His research experience is in Anthropology and Urban Sociology, with an emphasis on gender and sexuality, family and kinship, sexual rights and politics, emotions, conjugalities, polyamory and non-monogamous relationships, aging, youth, and generations.
