Camila Fernandes

CAMILA FERNANDES

She is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Social Medicine at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (IMS/UERJ). She holds a postdoctoral degree from the Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS/MN/UFRJ). She has a PhD in Social Anthropology (PPGAS/MN/UFRJ), a Master’s degree in Anthropology (PPGA/UFF), and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (ESS/UFF). She is an associate researcher at the Transnational Network for Research on Dispossessed, Violated, and Abused Maternities (REMA) and the International Network for Anthropological Research on Family and Kinship (Anthera). She is the author of the book “Figures of Causation: the young girls, the nervous mothers, and the mothers who abandon their children” (Telha Publishing). She served as a consultant for the National Care Plan (ENAP). Currently, she conducts research in the areas of Gender, Sexualities, Race, Motherhood, Childhood, Care, Public Policy, Public Daycare Centers, and Favelas.
