MARIA CLARA GAMA 

Maria Clara holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the Institute of Social and Political Studies at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (IESP/UERJ), a Master’s degree in Sociology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). She currently coordinates the Communication team at the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights, at the Institute of Social Medicine of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (CLAM/IMS/UERJ). She was a postdoctoral fellow (PDJ/CNPQ) in the Graduate Program in Sociology and Anthropology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPGSA/IFCS/UFRJ). She is an associate researcher at the Center for Studies on Sexuality and Gender (NESEG/IFCS/UFRJ) and the Center for Studies on Social Theory and Latin America (NETSAL/IESP/UERJ). She is a member of RedeGen (Fluminense Network of Research Centers on Gender, Sexuality, and Feminisms in the Social Sciences) and the Caleidoscópio Feminista Network (National Network for Feminist, Transfeminist, Anti-racist, Transdisciplinary, and Decolonial Studies and Research). She also participates in the Committee on Gender and Sexuality Research of the Brazilian Sociological Society (SBS). Maria Clara has worked as a lecturer at IFCS/UFRJ, PUC/MG, and FUMEC University. She also worked at the Department of Social Development of the Municipal Government of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. She has experience in the field of Political Sociology, with a focus on the following topics: sexuality, LGBTQIAPN+ rights (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Travestis, Transsexuals, Queer, Intersex, Asexuals, Pansexuals, Non-binary people, and other sexual minorities), the National Congress, and the relationship between social movements and the State. She is a regular reviewer for around seven academic journals.
