Rogerio Azize is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Social Medicine at UERJ. He was previously a professor at the Fluminense Federal University between 2011 and 2015 in the Department of Social Sciences in Campos dos Goytacazes, collaborating professor at the State University of Santa Catarina (CEAD) between 2002 and 2006, and professor at Faculdade Estácio de Sá between 2003 and 2004 of the Publicity and Propaganda course. He holds a degree in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1999); Master’s in Social Anthropology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2002); and PhD in Anthropology from the National Museum Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2010). His focus of interest is the intersection between anthropology, health, science, the body and subjectivity. He serves as Associate editor of  the journal Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva, and Associate editor of the Revista Sexualidad, Salud y Sociedad. He is also a researcher at the Latin American Center on Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM) and at the National Institute of Science and Technology Brazil Plural (INCT-IBP). He is a regular authorial reviewer, contributing to about 40 scientific journals. He is currently member and assistant coordinator of the research ethics committee of the IMS/UERJ and assistant coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health at IMS/UERJ.
